Winter Activities
During the winter, there will
be Table Tennis in the clubhouse on Tuesday and Thursday
evenings from 5:30pm and Saturday afternoons at 1pm. It is drop-in,
and there is no charge. Everybody is welcome.
Nets
are left up on two courts during the winter. The courts are
locked, but the key is in the clubhouse on the bulletin board.
Please replace the key after using it.
Ball Machine
The ball machine is now
repaired and ready for use. In order to ensure that the
machine does not break down again, Rosie (our club pro) has offered
to assist members who wish to use the ball machine. She is
available at the club on most days during her coaching sessions and
you should coordinate use of the machine through her when she is
available to ensure that it is set up correctly and used properly.
Members who wish to use the machine should phone Rosie Schaich at
250-769-6641.
RIX Rookie Tour
Willie Jung, LVH member and tennis
coach at Parkinson's Recreation Centre held a very
successful junior coaching day on June 7th at the club.
Under the auspices of Tennis BC, the Rix Rookie Tour is a
non-elimination event for boys and girls ages 8 - 13. This
is a fun way to introduce competitive play to recreational
players. This series of events, held at 28 venues
throughout B.C. from May to September, reaches hundreds of
junior players each summer.
Willie received registrations from 5
under 14s; 15 under 12s; and 12 under 10s, boys and girls.
The day began with a warm up session, followed by stroke
coaching from both Willie and Robert Bettauer, former
Canadian Davis Cup player. Willie then arranged round-robin
matches for the rest of the session. The kids had fun and
the parents and spectators thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Here are a few
pictures.
